Dr. Min Jun, DO is a Reconstructive Urologist whose practice is entirely focused on genital Gender Affirming Surgery. Dr. Jun completed fellowship training in both reconstructive urology and Gender Affirming Surgery, making him ideally suited to performing Metoidioplasty. He worked with the Crane Center for Transgender Surgery in 2020-2023 and now has his own practice in San Francisco.

Dr. Jun's residency training in urology was done at Detroit Medical Center with Dr. Richard Santucci. He subsequently completed fellowship training in reconstructive and traumatic urology at Temple University with Dr. Michael Metro. Dr. Jun also trained in Gender Surgery with Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic in Belgrade, Serbia and at Crane CTS, and completed a fellowship in gender-affirming genital and robotic surgery with Dr. Lee Zhao and Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner at New York University.

Metoidioplasty Options

With deep expertise in genitourinary reconstruction, Dr. Jun is able to offer variations of Metoidioplasty that suit different needs. From Simple Release to Full Metoidoiplasty, you can custom design your Meta to include any combination of: Vaginectomy, Urethral Lengthening and Scrotoplasty.

Testicular implants can be placed 9 months after the initial Metoidioplasty surgery. Dr. Jun uses solid silicone implants made by Alpha Aesthetics. If a larger scrotum is desired, tissue expanders can be used.

Some patients may also benefit from a Monsplasty, or mons resection, which can help improve the forward positioning of the phallus and scrotum.

Where does Dr. Jun operate?
Dr. Jun uses the following surgical facilities, all in San Francisco: St. Francis Memorial Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center – Davies Campus and Austin San Francisco Surgery Center.

What are the surgery requirements?
Dr. Jun is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. This means that you will need to provide two referrals from qualified mental health professionals recommending surgery, as well as a letter from your hormone specialist stating you have been on Testosterone for at least 12 months continuously. Additionally, patients must be 18+ years of age.

What insurance does Dr. Jun take?
Dr. Jun is in-network with Blue Shield of California and Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP.) Dr. Jun can also bill most major insurance carriers and managed Medi-cal plans as an out-of-network provider. Dr. Jun does not work with: out-of-state Medicaid, Medicare, Tri-Care, Kaiser, Ambetter or Oscar Health. If you are paying out-of-pocket, Jun Surgical accepts credit/debit cards, cashier’s check, money order and wire transfer.

How do I get a consultation with Dr. Jun?
Dr. Jun offers virtual and in-person consultations. Consultation scheduling and fees are available upon registration. Patients must be 18 or over to book a consultation.
